New South Cabbage

I have always loved cabbage!  I grew up eating it boiled or fried; however, this is my favorite recipe! We never have leftovers of this at our house because it is so good!

What makes it even better is this cabbage is baked in the oven inside a covered baking pan.  It is the easiest way ever to cook cabbage and it does not create that funky cabbage smell inside your house as it cooks!

This calls for chicken bouillon, but not just ANY bouillon will do for this recipe.  In order to get the bouillon flavor throughout this dish, it is best not to use the tiny bouillon cubes that are hard as a rock!

Do yourself a huge favor and get some Knorr Chicken Flavor Bouillon CUBES.  These things are awesome and they are softer in texture so they break apart very easily.  These come 8 cubes to a box and they are very inexpensive.  The easiest place to find them is on the Hispanic food aisle in the grocery store.  They cost about one dollar per box at Food Lion.

Ingredients

1 head cabbage - diced into small chunks & pieces

2 cubes Knorr chicken bouillon, crumbled

2/3 cup water

2 tablespoons olive oil or canola oil

pepper to taste

Instructions

Once cabbage is chopped, place it inside a 9x13 baking pan.

Add crumbled bouillon, oil, and pepper to taste.  I love pepper, so I add quite a bit here, but this is optional.  Toss everything until the cabbage is coated well with oil.  Add water but don't stir it.

Cover tightly with foil.

Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 30-35 minutes.
